Dave Tang

Dave Tang passed away this morning. I knew him through my friends from Grip Video, and he was a great guy. In real life, he stood literally a foot and a half taller than me and he was Chinese. I could go on about how incredibly fucking unfair it is for someone to die of cancer when you're in your early 30's, but I won't. He knew his time was short, and he made the most of it. He's no longer suffering, and for that I am glad. Instead, I'd like to remember him the way he probably would like to be remembered. Good times. Late night Ramen runs in Salt Lake. Getting Pwned in Halo. Car cruises. Ambiguously gay haircuts.

Getting wasted with me on "Romulan Ale."

And dancing the god damned Robot in 80's new wave shades.

I'll end this with a video clip from Flight of the Conchords. It's funny, and reminds me of Dave. Sometimes I wonder if it's only funny because of Dave.

What you name your kids

Has anyone noticed that the toddler rape suspect's name is Chester Stiles?

Never, ever name your kid Chester.

Quote of the week

"If I were a transformer that transformed in to a Buick, I'd probably always be a robot."

Oh man, that's so true. Anyway, hai everyone. I'll be back to blogging soon.

Ugh. Had to redo the water lines.

image
Ahhh idiocy. I made the original water lines off the car, then mocked up the intercooler piping with the engine in the car. Then I put the engine in and discovered I'm not so clever after all. The compressors can't be clocked any other way since I'm using the internal wastegates, and making new intercooler pipes wouldn't be ideal since the bends are already tight. So i went with moving the water line port. The original location was where the OEM fitting was, but drilled out and replaced with a -6AN fitting. I ended up moving it to the top of the housing (oh noes! my pretty surface!). It still looks clean though, but I had to remake *every single line*. It sucks, but the hoses don't bend very much, and there's not a lot of hose between fittings anyway. It's a very tight fit in the engine bay. I mean...extremely tight.

Lance said that this picture is sick and wrong. I agree. I'll take a better photo in the car for internet forum ownage. I do, in fact, have a nicely polished upper intake manifold. I also scratched it when taking the engine out again, so I'm using a piece of shit spare manifold to hoist the engine around after I polished out the scratches on the "nice" one.

This is the sexiest thing you'll see all week. An Edexy twin-place street clutch.
